The air photographic mapping project was initially funded by grants from the RCHME and Nottinghamshire County Council in the first year, thereafter by RCHME alone. The mapping was undertaken by Air Photo Services Ltd in the first quarter of 1991 and was completed by December 1996. All recording was completed by January 14, 1997. The project was commissioned because of threats to the archaeological resource.
