Description

Following increased use of the Plain in the 1980's and the formation of the SPTA working party, a joint meeting in December 1987 between Wiltshire County Council, RCHME and English Heritage led to a proposal for the Commission to survey 100 sq km of SPTA over 5 years. In 1993 it was decided that a new approach to the survey was required: a total survey of the entire area at 1:10,000 scale, and thus this NMP project was initiated.

Staff from the Swindon office of RCHME carried out the project between December 1994 - August 1995 as part of the wider National Mapping Programme.
