Opening Arrangements

The castle’s opening arrangements for 2025 follow the pattern for 2024, and will be open to the public on at least 76 days, including bank holidays. Further opportunities to visit the castle and see the interior will be published on our website, including exhibitions, events and Heritage Open Days. The 76 days are made up of the following: 24 days with free access; visitors are asked to notify their intention to visit to give us an idea of numbers, but it is not essential. 52 days with paid guided tours taking in additional areas of the castle. ‘Out of season’ dates have proved popular in previous years, and for these dates visitors are asked to notify their intention to visit to give us an idea of numbers. However we accept additional non-booked visitors too.
